Governing Council (GC)

The Governing Council (GC) is comprised of elected Officers and Councilors who are responsible for the overall policy and direction of SCPHA, and ensure its activities and functions further the mission of the organization by:

• Establishing policies for SCPHA, its Officers, and Committees 
• Adopting appropriate resolutions  
• Designating annual dues for the membership and meeting basic expenses of SCPHA  
• Making decisions as to the meetings to be held, publications to be sponsored, and direct services to be provided to members  
• Approving and adopting an annual budget  
• Directing the administrative work of SCPHA between meetings and acting as trustee for its properties  

All GC members are expected to do the following, in addition to their respective position responsibilities:

• Attend/participate in at least 8 meetings per calendar year
• Actively participate in the GC listserv
• Be current members of SCPHA at time of elections and throughout their elected term 
• Participate in the SCPHA Annual Conference 
• Actively participate in assigned sub-committees 
• If appropriate to field of expertise, actively participate in one or more SCPHA sections 
• Potentially represent SCPHA at various community groups, committees, etc. throughout their term
