About Us
MISSION
The Southern California Public Health Association (SCPHA) is organized exclusively to:
- Improve the health of people in Southern California by working with public health and other agencies in health promotion and disease prevention activities
- Provide opportunities for public health professionals to enhance their knowledge
- Formulate and advocate sound public health policy
OBJECTIVES
- Provide public health leadership by working to maintain and enhance health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and health protection efforts in Southern California
- Increase awareness of the ways public health efforts promote, protect, and maintain individual and community health
- Develop collaborative relationships with organizations and individual consumers to advocate for policies and practices that promote public health
- Provide educational opportunities that address current and emerging needs of public health professionals
- Facilitate linkages between people and information about public health
- Provide consultation and technical assistance that promote research, education, and programs
- Provide services related to health assessment, assurance, and policy development
