The Southern California Public Health Association (SCPHA) is currently developing guidelines and descriptions for Special Sections. Environmental Health – The Environmental Health section focuses on and shares information about environmental factors that may adversely impact human health or the ecological balances essential to long-term human health and environmental quality.
Epidemiology– The Epidemiology section supports epidemiological research and science-based public health practice: serve as a conduit between the epidemiological research community and users of scientific information for the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies affecting the public’s health.
Health Administration – The Health Administration section concentrates on improvement of health service administration, including cost-benefit and operations research, program activities, finances, standards, and monitoring the organization of health services. This section models and promotes ethical principles and practices in health administration.
Health Care Delivery/Medical—The Health Care Delivery/Medical section focuses on the role of clinicians, technicians, and other health professionals directly involved in health care delivery.
Health Education/Health Promotion – The Health Education/Health Promotions section brings together a community of members who Members of this section carry out and advocate for health education, disease prevention and health promotion that are directed to individuals, groups and communities.
Nursing – The Nursing section seeks to develop public health nursing practice and research; assures consideration of nursing concerns by providing mechanisms for interdisciplinary nursing collaboration in public health policy and program endeavors, and advocate for improved patient care.
Policy/Advocacy – The Policy/Advocacy section focuses on monitoring, identifying, and addressing local, state, and federal legislative and regulatory activities that could impact the health of the public.
Social Work – The Social Work section focuses on establishing standards for social work in health care settings; contributing to the development of public health social work practice and research; promoting social work programs in the public health field.
