SCPHA 2017 Governing Council Special Election

Did you notice that there are some vacant positions listed on our SCPHA Governing Council page? We did too!  To fill those positons we will be holding a second “special election” to recruit new members to join the 2017 SCPHA Governing Council.  If you would like to join the SCPHA Governing Council please review the position descriptions and then click on the link to submit your nomination form. Due to the number of new members who have joined SCPHA in the past two weeks we are extending the date, all nominations must be received by Friday, 2/3/2017.

SCPHA 2017 Annual Conference!

SAVE THE DATE! The date for the 2017 SCPHA Annual Conference has been announced. The conference will take place on Monday, 12/4/2017 at the California Endowment in Los Angeles. Please check our webpage or follow us on social media for news and updates related to the conference.


Talk Public Health Webinar Series!

In a collaboration with California Baptist University, the Southern California Public Health Association (SCPHA) is pleased to present the “Talking Public Health”, a free professional development series to view from the comfort of your home and/or office. The series is spearheaded by Cherise Charleswell, MPH SCPHA Immediate Past President.


The purpose of the talks is to improve the field of public health through education and advocacy. Thus, talks will highlight special topics in health equity, social justice, policy, and best practices in the field of public health, as well as related fields such as medicine, biomedical research, urban planning, gender studies, and more, that affect health; impacting local and global communities. Participants will learn important information for their professional development and engage in lively moderated discussions.


The Talks will feature presenters from the academic community, community based organizations, businesses, public health sectors, technology sectors, government, as well as local, national, and international organizations in an effort to facilitate interdisciplinary discussion on broad topics relevant to public health


The Talking Public Health series will focus on its mission of highlighting the most pressing, local, national and global health issues; as well as providing a space for discussing emerging issues and those that warrant more exposure and discussion.
